White, I know, the colour that all of us clumsy people out there try and avoid with the fear of spilling all manner of substances down the front. Bolognese, orange juice and pen ink have all been things which any of my other pieces of white clothing have been succumbed to in the past.  However this summer I was extra brave and decided to risk it with an all white skirt.

With my what I am coining “granny chic” phase still in full swing, only increased by now seeming to be surrounded by vintage shops, anything that is button (or in this case popper) up the front and sits below the knee, my eyes will be draw to it. Paired with this simple black camisole top, a black western style belt and obviously my Doc Martens grunges up this pretty skirt and keeps it as the focus of the outfit.

As of writing this yet I have manage to keep the stains at bay, hopefully I haven’t just jinxed it!

With summer now unfortunately coming to a close with the days of lounging around catching a few rays soon to be exchanged for wrapping up in a warm blanket in front of the fire, for many it would seem the time to pack up all the floral dresses in exchange for chunky knits. But part of me is still definitely not ready to pack away all the summer dresses quite yet.  Having gone back to uni and Strictly being back on the telly, its practically already Christmas but with far too much forward planning your going to have to put up with a couple of summery posts for a little bit longer!

For this summer was very much the year of the vintage dress. With my collection continuing to grow in all cuts and colours the black shirt dresses were finally given a bit of a rest in exchange for a couple of colourful numbers. This dress definitely encapsulates the 70’s trend with the button down front and neckline frill detail. Frills tend to be something that I keep rather at arms length with not feeling they are particularly flattering for me however, with the addition of the grungy elements and the leather jacket over the top (how could I possibly leave that out) the whole look becomes a lot more ‘me’.

Shopping my stash

Shopping my stash

We all love a good shopping trip, especially when it is free right? How do I have one of these I hear you ask.Well for me this came in the form of ‘shopping my stash’ as in finding something crumpled in the back of your wardrobe, realising that you actually really like it and want to try and re-invent it in a new way. This is what happened with this lovely little Zara checkered shirt of mine. As someone who probably does own one too many chequered shirts this one in recent times had been rather neglected. But in an effort to just put the beloved grey one down for just 5 minuets I grabbed this green one and once again loved how it looked. Paired with my Nobody’s Child black jumpsuit which I just can’t get enough of this was a great method of layering for when the summer nights are beginning to get chilly.

Now I have never considered myself much of a beach babe before, with the whole idea of stripping off into pretty much underwear in front of a large group of strangers while having sand get into all those places you really don’t want it to (especially your tuna sandwiches) isn’t the most appealing afternoon for me. However this year while on holiday in Norfolk I decided to throw caution to the wind and actually crack out a real life pair of shorts (I know, living life on the edge!) Turns out it really isnt quite that painful after all.

For anyone who may have taken a gander on my instagram over the past week (where have you been if you haven’t ;) ) there may have been a few subtle hints/me spamming you that this last bank holiday weekend I was away in the lovely sea side town of Cromer. Now I know it may not be the most exotic place in the world with a few more pensioners than palm trees, however give me a beach, some cute streets and some good proper fish and chips then I am a happy Chloe.

To start with the weather looked as if it was going to be against us with the forecast seeming to change at the drop of a hat, leaving my summery packed suitcase the night before starting to notice its sever lack of jumpers (how miss layering obsessed here didn’t pack any I will never know). But luckily the sun decided to dust of his hat for the last few days and give us some glorious sunshine, and all with me managing to not get burnt this year, which is always an added bonus.

With the weather just managing to tickle 20 degrees plus the sea side breeze, layering was the name of the game for day one. With my current addiction to the plain T under strappy top trend, another trend which makes me wonder whatever I used to wear before it, I cracked out one of my favourite summer purchases being this black jumpsuit from Nobodies Child. Being a light weight it was nice and cool when the weather got a bit warmer yet covered up enough to keep the breeze away.

Me and stripes have had a good old life long bond. Though thick and thin (literally), in the world of fashion i’ve found a decent striped print is something that can be very much be relied upon year on year.  This statement skirt from Topshop, one which I spoke rather adoringly about here, is definitely one of my more bolder choices being a stripy double wammy in the vertical and horizontal verities (and it leaps out the the realms of just black, white and blue.) Now you may be thinking I would be mad to pair this with yet more stripes but that I did with but with this thinly striped blue and white Zara number.

On this lovely day back in April I seemed to cash in all my lucky stars in the bluebell variety with some of the most beautiful scenery I think Scotland has to offer. Just have to pretend that I totally planned to wear blue on this day to match this and totally wasn’t a fluke.

With this countries mini July heatwave coming to an end and with me now finally being able to function once more, and all of us now realising we shouldn’t have complained that much about it being too hot with it now raining, it seemed only right to reminis on the beautiful weather with a post all about my trip to the beautiful Kentchurch Court Gardens.

This summer in particular I think I have had a real draw (just like a bee) to beautiful gardens and flowers. Sunny skies and pretty flowers, whats not to like? Maybe its me getting older (should I take out a national trust membership card already?) but Kentchurch Court Gardens has really tickled my appetite for all things floral and summery. With living the big city life nowadays its lovely and refreshing to come back to visits such beautiful  placed hidden away in the depths of the countryside.(totally haven’t been there 3 times in the past couple of weeks :/)

Not only have I been hanging out with the flowers I have also rather unusually for me started wearing them too. With my new discovery of a fab little vintage shop in my home town packed full with more vintage dresses than you can shake a stick at, It has definitely made shopping trips in little old Hereford a lot interesting (and less purse friendly too.)

Welcome to probably the longest outfit of the day post I have ever done, with the blossoms looked so pretty under the gorgeous sunlight, I think we got a little bit carried away with the camera. And why not when it looks so blooming pretty! (pun alert)

Now with a title like flower power you may be thinking I was going to go all 60/70’s on you with bold floral prints, flared trousers and knee length pvc boots.

Despite a surprising amount of those things coming back into fashion over the past few seasons (can’t say I was the first to see the floral flare coming back) I haven’t had the craving to adorn my legs with PVC quite yet, god help me if I do, but I have come with smidge of a floral pattern and a little bit of colour with this lovely teal flowered tea dress from Urban Outfitters. With the pussy bow neck tie, vintage style floral fabric and fitted A line mini shape, there is a some what of a wiff of the 1960’s about it.

With the sun having finally broken through the clouds it was a gorgeous day to grab out this dress and even get the old pins out despite how white and pasty they looked.

Get the look..

Bourton on the Water

Bourton on the Water

No don’t worry, I haven’t spelt the word Bourbon wrong, Bourton on the water (annoyingly) doesn’t have anything to do with any kind of chocolate biscuit. (However I cannot confirm or deny how many were consumed in the making of this blog post). While roaming around the Gloucestershire countryside we landed up on the beautiful cotswold town of Bourton on the Water. With is old fashioned sweetshops and beautiful quaint streets it feels like you’ve stepped right into pintrest as the epitome of British living .

I’m not sure this photo could get more British if I tried, maybe only with the addition of a cup of tea and a cream tea.  With eventually  giving up on trying to get a clean shot with nothing it the background only then did a post van and a horse trot into the picture.

Photos from the Aegon Classic

Photos from the Aegon Classic

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to get the chance to be an accredited photographer (I got a press pass and everything!) at the Aegon Classic women tennis tournament in Birmingham. Having never shot live sport or even seen a tennis match in person before you might say I was a little thrown in at the deep end. But with having the whole weekend there, i had plenty of time to try and get the hang of it.

It was actually rather different than I was expecting, with thinking it was going to be very high paced and constantly on the go, trying to get the best shots. However I actually found it on a whole quite slow and monotonous process, waiting for the precise moments when the player and the ball are in the exact right position before you even think about pressing the shutter.

Also one massive difference I noticed from any other style photography I have done before (theatre, portrait etc) was that obvious with it being a live match nothing it pre planned and you have no idea what the players are going to do next, where they are going to run on the court ect. My usual process of wanting to have everything pre planned out before I start pretty much had to be thrown out the window for this one.

The rain did its best to try and stop play however over the qualifying weekend we managed to get a good 5 matches in on centre court (2 including Laura Robson which I was a little too excited about).

In the end after wading through hundreds of photos of awkward arm pit shots, shots of half a player and shots which were just plainly out of focus these ones seem to be pretty much the best of the bunch.

I also put together a little mini vlog of one of the days for you all, oh I am spoiling you ;)

You know those times when on the way back from and extremely long 2 days in London when you spot a double rainbow and just have to jump out of the car while it is raining to get some all important photos? Well that happened to be us this weekend. As someone who is no stranger to a more challenging shoot, standing out in the rain was definitely not something new to me. Least the addition of not just one but two rainbows was a nice change. (We didn’t totally run to the car as soon as it turned monsoon like at all! with lighting equipment and all.)

For one day only gone are the baggy jumpers and large scarfs. For my last instalment in my little Isle of Arran series we’ve gone and got a little bit sexy, oh yes (throws up in mouth at the mention of the word) or I would like to think so anyway. Or it could have ended up more likely with me looking like a painted sack of potatoes leaning agains a sink.

Anyway, with wanting to make the most of our stay we decided to use the hotel for one shoot as well.

With my room having the biggest bathroom I have ever seen, with it being about double the size of my room in my flat, I kid you not, it was a great little set up for another cool little shoot.

On our second morning in Arran after spending far too long deciding on which part of the Island to go to, we decided to go right back to the same parts as the day before. Despite being a tad unadventurous, it turned out to have been a really good decision with managing to get some really cool shots with such a dramatic landscape.

I kept the look simple with this simple marron body con dress which ended up complementing the green and beige tones of the landscape really well. As someone who tends to run and hide under a massive jumper at the very mention of the word bodycon, I was pleasantly surprised how this little number from H and M nicely skims my curves without being too clingy.  (Looks like the massive meal of venison sausages I had the night before didn’t do my waist too much harm.)
