Now I can’t say that I am someone who is out every weekend “painting the town red” or blue or green or any colour for that matter. Staying in at home tucked up in bed with a mug of hot chocolate and an episode of the crown on seems all too appealing. However when it comes to fashion, a good old piece of red is definitely is a good enough to get out of bed for.

If there is any colour that I am going to be wearing that doesn’t make me look like I am going to a funeral then it is going to be red. From tops to dresses to scarfs all of these nestle within my wardrobe in a variety of different shades. Its a good old trusty colour for me with never feeling too girly but is versatile when pairing with other colours. I feel its a colour that never really goes out of season, being bright and colourful for the summer months yet an obviously festive option for the christmas period.

Ever since I saw The Little Magpie repeatedly strutting her stuff in a gorgeous pair of Topshop red tapered trousers, I had been on the hunt to find a pair for myself. Funnily enough after searching high and low from high street to vintage, it all came back to Topshop with exactly what I was looking for. With them being a slightly more muted and darker shade of red I don’t think they end up being too bright and in your face. This style of tapered trouser is definitely a bit of a Chloe signature with them being great at showing of a waist with not being too tight and restrictive.

I’ve never been one to shy away from red on the basis of it being “fattening” because at the end of the day if you like it and feel good in it, the bloody well just wear it!

Don’t worry, i’m not getting all deep and meaningful about sense of belonging or feeling like a nobody on you today, I mean, i’m writing this late on a Tuesday night after doing all manners of life admin and cleaning, ain’t nobody got the brain power for that as this hour. What I am actually awake at the ungodly hour to type about is my love of the brand Nobody’s Child . My first discovery of the brand was seeing their concession stand in Topshop in Glasgow. Armed with the majority of their range I bundled myself into the changing rooms to go through the general charade of wanting everything while my bank account screams at me to get as far away from the shop as you can.

This jumpsuit was by far the piece that jumped out at me the most with being (wait for it) black and with seeing the sheer amount of fabric there is to make up the trouser part. Your definitely getting your meterage for your money with this one. I’m not usually one to purchase for occasion however having an event coming up at this point and obviously deciding there and then that there was nothing I could possibly wear other than this jumpsuit, I allowed my self one this little slip up.

This brand seems to be an all round good egg with being impressed by their quality, designs and rather lovely price point. It seems to have something for everyone with mixing classic shapes like the jumpsuit with some more quirky pieces in a mixture of colours and patterns. This jumpsuit may be solely flying the flag for Nobody’s Child in my wardrobe however i’m sure it is only a matter of time before it gets a friend.

Photos from the Aegon Classic

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to get the chance to be an accredited photographer (I got a press pass and everything!) at the Aegon Classic women tennis tournament in Birmingham. Having never shot live sport or even seen a tennis match in person before you might say I was a little thrown in at the deep end. But with having the whole weekend there, i had plenty of time to try and get the hang of it.

It was actually rather different than I was expecting, with thinking it was going to be very high paced and constantly on the go, trying to get the best shots. However I actually found it on a whole quite slow and monotonous process, waiting for the precise moments when the player and the ball are in the exact right position before you even think about pressing the shutter.

Also one massive difference I noticed from any other style photography I have done before (theatre, portrait etc) was that obvious with it being a live match nothing it pre planned and you have no idea what the players are going to do next, where they are going to run on the court ect. My usual process of wanting to have everything pre planned out before I start pretty much had to be thrown out the window for this one.

The rain did its best to try and stop play however over the qualifying weekend we managed to get a good 5 matches in on centre court (2 including Laura Robson which I was a little too excited about).

In the end after wading through hundreds of photos of awkward arm pit shots, shots of half a player and shots which were just plainly out of focus these ones seem to be pretty much the best of the bunch.

I also put together a little mini vlog of one of the days for you all, oh I am spoiling you ;)

On our second morning in Arran after spending far too long deciding on which part of the Island to go to, we decided to go right back to the same parts as the day before. Despite being a tad unadventurous, it turned out to have been a really good decision with managing to get some really cool shots with such a dramatic landscape.

I kept the look simple with this simple marron body con dress which ended up complementing the green and beige tones of the landscape really well. As someone who tends to run and hide under a massive jumper at the very mention of the word bodycon, I was pleasantly surprised how this little number from H and M nicely skims my curves without being too clingy.  (Looks like the massive meal of venison sausages I had the night before didn’t do my waist too much harm.)

POSH_DRESS_4895

A couple of now months ago (doesn’t time fly) I fully exercised all my newly formed photography muscles with photographing Student Theatre at Glasgow’s production of Posh by Laura Wade. This was rather different from my usual of flower and still life’s with actual people and flashing lights to think about but it seemed my lucky stars were aligning on this day as I was really pleased with the results.

With the amazing venue of Cottiers Theatre being a renovated church which suited the play perfectly and such a talented cast and crew it was a  joy to work both backstage and as a photographer.

Through a mound of around 230 final photos I have managed to narrow it down to my final favorite 25 photos (I tried for 20 but I just can’t let them go!) and a couple of promo images too.
