With summer now unfortunately coming to a close with the days of lounging around catching a few rays soon to be exchanged for wrapping up in a warm blanket in front of the fire, for many it would seem the time to pack up all the floral dresses in exchange for chunky knits. But part of me is still definitely not ready to pack away all the summer dresses quite yet.  Having gone back to uni and Strictly being back on the telly, its practically already Christmas but with far too much forward planning your going to have to put up with a couple of summery posts for a little bit longer!

For this summer was very much the year of the vintage dress. With my collection continuing to grow in all cuts and colours the black shirt dresses were finally given a bit of a rest in exchange for a couple of colourful numbers. This dress definitely encapsulates the 70’s trend with the button down front and neckline frill detail. Frills tend to be something that I keep rather at arms length with not feeling they are particularly flattering for me however, with the addition of the grungy elements and the leather jacket over the top (how could I possibly leave that out) the whole look becomes a lot more ‘me’.

As someone who spends most of her life in dark colours, blending into the crowd is probably something that tends to happen, however, I don’t usually end up wearing the exact same colour as the background of my pictures.

When I got dressed for this shoot I didn’t think that I had used a brick wall for inspiration however these brown and orange flowers seem to have a surprising likeness to my bricky background.

My trend of wearing dresses in the winter time continues on with this lovely vintage inspired floral number from urban outfitters. I tend to be rather picky with my floral prints with them either being too modern or too bold however being in quite a simple, dark colour pallet and a nice print, this one is perfect.  With my collection of shirt dresses seeming to be ever increasing this one now definitely a new favourite addition with its versatility with it simple print  working well with other patterns and colours and layered well under jumpers and scarfs.

My 5 top posts of 2015

My 5 top posts of 2015

Happy New Year everyone! I hope your not feeling to delicate this morning from partying the last year away with a bang. My evening in with the laptop and a mug of hot chocolate was certainly a wild one ;) With staying in this new year I decided to put my spare time to good use and do a little extra bonus post for the new year looking back at my top 5 blog posts of the year. Enjoy!

If you want to read them in full Just click on the header image to take you straight to each post.

Over the past year on our wonderings me and Tom have managed to get some lovely little collections of style blog photos. It was a tough choice with so many to choose from but I think I’ve managed to narrow it down to my 2 favourites.

My favorite location would have to be shooting at the Grand Central shopping centre in Birmingham. Still in its nice brand new shiny state we got some great little shots here from the lovely walk ways to the escalators at the back!

Outfit wise this one would probably be my favourite all due to the orange coat. With my annual task of finding a winter coat when finding this orange one this year I knew it would be the perfect statement item addition to my wardrobe for my winter wardrobe. With the autumnal leaves all out in full force it was a lovely orangey yellow backdrop was perfect for this look.

This year at Fabric Forward we went headlong into christmas with a collection of specially festive features. My favourite has to the one focusing on my own brand of Chloe Natalie Knott hand made makeup bags, pretty much for my cute christmassy christmas tree background alone! (and couldn’t resist a slight plug of my own products :P)

I think this post had to be dedicated to all my friends who will remember the days of me setting their tea towels on fire (I don’t like cooking on gas!) I think this post had to be dedicated to all my friends who will remember the days of me setting their tea towels on fire (I don’t like cooking on gas!) With moving away to university this year, in order to fend for myself cooking an obvious everyday necessity. With finding that I can actually create edible and surprisingly tasty food I wanted to branch out from various versions of the same pasta dish to baking. (And with the boredom of student life it wasn’t a bad way to pass the time.)  On my first attempt these raspberry and white chocolate muffins were what I created and I was chuffed on their lovely taste and couldn’t resist sharing the recipe on the the blog.

Helping to expose new and up and coming brands has always been a focus for the blog with so many brilliant new brands out there. My favourite brand focus of this year would have to be the joint one I did for Mulk and Ding Ding. These were 2 brands which when I found I instantly brought and fell in love with Mulk’s bright and simple geometric patterns and Ding Dings beautiful hand screen printed designs.

Style File – The Orange coat

Style File – The Orange coat

Orange, thats right it orange. Don’t worry you haven’t started seeing black as orange, Chloe Knott has brought an orange coat. Every year it comes to that time when the hunt for the new winter coat begins with last year coats coat feeling a bit over worn and tired. Instead of the normal black or dark grey this year I decided to mix it up with a splash of orange.

887442_1082600051758959_4544157419024988559_o

From going out to find one I knew I wasn’t wanting the normal black or grey and did want something different, thinking more in the ream of camel coloured. It was the camel coloured version of this coat which drew my eye to it but when I noticed the orange one I knew that was the one I wanted.

With wanting your coat to last the whole winter you want it to be something very versatile. Now if I was someone who wore a lot of different colours then the orange may not be the best for a coat that you want to go with everything, but as someone who has a very dark coloured wardrobe this is a brilliant way of adding colour to any outfit without much effort. I think this statement coat it a brilliant way to do this.

The main reason I love this coat so much is the cut. Its such a classic cut which works for everyday and for more smarter occasions and will go with most other items. Despite the fact I have been talking all about the fact that it is orange it’s not too bright and is a slight darkened/muted orange which I think make it a bit more wearable with lots of other things.

I got this coat from Zara for £59.99 which defiantly was the top end of my budget however for a good quality winter coat I that will get plenty of use I think it was a worth wile investment. For a long time I have looked at Zara coats and always admired them from afar with them usually being out of my price range so I’m very glad this year they have come out with some lovely ones with a slightly lower price tag.

If orange isn’t your colour this same coat comes in 4 other colours of black, grey, camel and yellow.
