2nd Birthday

After sitting down and staring blankly at my computer screen wondering what the hell I was going to write (something which happens all to often) it suddenly occurred to me that this little corner of the internet has existed for a whole 730 ish days, or 2 years to the slightly less maths savvy. As someone who spent her own 21st birthday sat at home eating pizza (don’t worry I splashed out on the expensive shit), I haven’t been cracking out the party poppers and cocktail sausages for this little milestone quite yet. However I knew I had to at least acknowledge it.

After staring the early remnants of Fabric Forward back in the summer of 2015 it has gone through many a face lift, style change and focus to become what it is today. As some who has never known her HTML’s from her SEO’s, is not only just bad but scared of writing and used to run away when anyone got a camera out, the idea of me creating a fashion blog all being rather dependant on those 3 things would have seemed somewhat silly. However I think if from nothing else than my own determination to not have another hobby flop (lets not make a repeat of the tennis lessons), we’ve persisted through the technical confusion, writers block and pubic awkwardness to see ourselves here 2 years later.

Despite 2 years seeming like a rather long time I think it has taken to this point for me to finally feel happy and pleased at what I am creating. From finally finding a layout that I like, being more comfortable in my personal style and knowing the kind of posts I want to create I feel it makes me eager to want to write and create more rather than it feeling like a chore. I think the fact I have managed to post twice in week I think says it all.

Is it at a level which I might have hoped it would be by now? Not really, however at then of the day, as long it’s stays enjoyable and interesting then what does it matter if there is 1 or 1 billion of you out there.Through all the ups and downs of daily life Fabric Forward has been a wonderful little escape as my little part of the internet and somewhere which I am able to pour my creativity and love of fashion and photography into. So roll on the next 2 years and lets see where it takes us!

Hello! As you may have been able to tell from the large black whole where last weeks blog should have been this weekly posting thing is going extremely well!. Anyway, my punctuality aside I am back today and we are going all old skool in terms of me just wittering on about something that I have decided to wear on one fine day (and other wicked fans feel free to continue the song.)

If you have been over on my instagram recently you may have noticed that my all time love with all black outfits has been seeming to wain a little with items such as bright green jumpers and red trousers weaselling their way into my wardrobe (whatever next!) However there are always going to be days that old colour ignorant Chloe comes out and reverts back to a (nearly) all black look. With not being one of the girlies of girls, I don’t own a particularly large amount of lacy items. To be fair, this dress is probably as far as it goes. However the small amount on this lovely black Zara dress had my eyes pulling me towards it whilst my debit card was trying to pull me away.

In the short amount of time I have had it I have already found it to be a very versatile piece with it being great to layer up, with a long sleeves underneath or a jumper over the top (or both if you end up working in a tent over christmas, long story). Also for anyone like me who doesn’t like showing oodles of flesh in the summer this piece will be great in terms of keeping you cool with the strappy top and thin floaty fabric but keeping that cellulite from christmas that you haven’t quite managed to shift yet out of sight!

You know those times when on the way back from and extremely long 2 days in London when you spot a double rainbow and just have to jump out of the car while it is raining to get some all important photos? Well that happened to be us this weekend. As someone who is no stranger to a more challenging shoot, standing out in the rain was definitely not something new to me. Least the addition of not just one but two rainbows was a nice change. (We didn’t totally run to the car as soon as it turned monsoon like at all! with lighting equipment and all.)

The Isle of Arran | Part 2

The Isle of Arran | Part 2

CHLOE_ARRAN_35

There aren’t many places in the world I wouldn’t think that you are able to get a sandy beach and a snow topped mountain in the same picture (other than apparently in Middle Earth however my knowledge of that is rather hobbit sized :P. So for part 2 of my Isle of Arran series you find me frolicking around on a sandy empty beach. You may be thinking “Chloe, what lovely warm weather it looks like on the beach and its amazing that you have managed to get it all to yourself! Well, in the middle of February in single digit temperatures I can’t say many other people were jumping at the chance of going to the beach without wearing a serious amount of thermals. However together we braved the perilous icy cold temperatures in order to get some nice pics (bit dramatic but if you cant be dramatic when standing in front of a snow topped mountain then when can you?)

As you may remember (don’t worry I know you don’t) that A while ago I mentioned on my Instagram that me and my pal Tom took a wee trip over the the Isle of Arran. As someone who rarely goes on holiday a weekend away in the same country I live in for me is probably the everyday persons equivalent to 2 weeks in the Maldives. You may be thinking how nice is was to get away to a far flung island for a couple of days to relax and chill out without any thoughts of work. Well, it would have been stupid to go somewhere so unique and beautiful and not do some blog photos right? lots of photos in fact.

So for the next few weeks through the power of the photograph be guiding you through my wee little trip to Arran.

With leaving all the booking up to Tom and had done little research into the isle myself, I really didn’t know what to expect when I was getting there, well less know what to expect more than I expected it to be a tiny little island with a population of about 5 people and a dog (and many many sheep) and being so tiny a little fishing boat would be in order to get to it. When the large ferry pulled up into the port it new my expectations were a little wrong.

With this being the morning that we arrived I kept the look very casual and simple with these grey mom jeans and oversized shirt and jumper. I love the mixture of textures and prints within the combination of the striped shirt, the knitted jumper and woven scarf. Keeping them all within the same colour pallet they all work together well, despite all being thrown on in a hurry to be warm and cosy from the February chill.

Style File – A Day in Bath

Style File – A Day in Bath

CHLO_BATH_03

CHLO_BATH_01

On another day of galavanting around the country in the search of another set of blog photos, after seeming to have exhausted our local surroundings, we headed down to the beautiful city of Bath. The combination of beautiful old sand stone buildings making up the picturesque streets with a great splash of sunny weather made for a great little set of snaps.

CHLO_BATH_08

CHLO_BATH_10

CHLO_BATH_13

With us getting our full tourist on I went for a simple, comfortable monochrome look of some classic black skinny’s, which seems to be my uniform nowadays with barely being able to prise them off myself, an oversized white shirt (not quite a shirt dress for a change) and the normal accessories of a scarf and Doc Martens. With not being blessed with the figure of Kate Moss (Nutella is just too hard to resist sometimes) in true rabbit style I like to bury myself under loose fitting clothing for those days when you just don’t fancy breathing in. It has been a long term mission of mine to find the perfect white shirt with it being a classic wardrobe staple basic. Despite this one in photos making me look doubly wide, I like the length and crisp white fabric of this one, despite its ability to crease at the slightest touch. (luckily these photos were taken just before dropping my pizza lunch all down the front) Despite the beautiful sunshine with the slight chill in the air I threw on this thick baggy grey cardigan for a little extra warmth.

Now I can hear all you British readers saying ‘you went all the way to Bath but yet didn’t go and visit The Royal crescent or The Royal Circle?’ Well, obviously I wouldn’t be that stupid so stay tuned for part 2 coming up soon featuring some of these lovely photos.
